Daycare Drama

It was early morning and the daycare was full of children settling into their routines. Among the children were three teachers, busy preparing snacks. When suddenly screams filled the room. Then  quickly navigating the room, I automatically noticed it was a teachers screaming and not the students. Chaos erupted! A mouse had unknowingly entered the room. I quickly sprung into action, found a container suitable for a rodent, to try and catch it. Eventually through all the screaming, kids laughing, excitedly running around, and teachers on chairs, the little vermin was caught. All was well until upon investigating we discovered that it wasn't a mouse at all but a pet gerbil. Puzzled we began questioning the children. Of course kids being kids no one would admit to bringing a pet to school.
A while later I noticed a little boy starring at the gerbil in its temporary home. Interested, I questioned him about the gerbil. To my surprise he admitted the gerbil was his. The explanation was that his gerbil was lonely and followed him to daycare. Of course that was next to impossible for a gerbil to do this, also it was winter. Upon further investigation we figured out that this little boy had carried his gerbil in his pocket all the way to daycare where he proceeded to let him explore.
The gerbil and little boy eventually went home, the gerbil did not make any more surprise visits.
